The Cardiovascular Prevention Program


The Cardiolvascular Prevention Program is both an inpatient and outpatient program. Karen Segerson, M.D. is Medical Director of the Cardiovascular Prevention Clinic and Madsen Preventive Cardiology Program.

The Madsen Preventive Cardiology Program is a comprehensive family-focused approach to the detection, treatment, and prevention of heart disease. Our Program differs from other cardiovascular programs in its emphasis on a comprehensive, case managed long-term risk reduction program for the patient and family members found to be at risk for the development of heart disease.

This program includes:
weight management        stress management
lipid management   smoking sesation
nutrition counseling    nutrition classes

Targeting the Risk Factors

Cardiovascular Prevention is a branch of medicine that targets the rick factors that cause:

  • Myocardial Infarction (heart attack)
  • Angina (heart pain)
  • Atherosclerosis (cholesterol build up in the heart arteries or other arteries)
  • Stroke
  • Vascular Disease

 

The Cardiovascular Prevention Team

Our multidisciplinary team consists of a medical director, clinical coordinator, cardiology case managers, exercise specialists, clinic staff, community education specialist, registered dietitian, and administrative support.
